Al Miller: What Happened To The Fair Hill Races?

The Fair Hill Races was an annual Steeplechase racing event founded in 1934 by William du Pont Jr. The community fair-like event was one of only two Thoroughbred Steeplechase meets with parimutuel wagering in the U.S. The construction of the Mary 5 Star event facility suspended the Fair Hill Races 2018. The state funded project included a resurfacing and modernization of the Steeplechase track even though racing is not part of 5 Star program. As the Maryland 5 Star plans for its fourth year, the Fair Hill Races remain suspended.
