Cecil County Toys for Tots will benefit from a special Celtic Christmas concert on Thursday, December 18, at the Elkton VFW, according to organizer John Dixon in an interview with Cecil TV host Rob Chirnside. The event features a rare live appearance by former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, performing a full 90-minute concert for the first time in eight years, joined by acclaimed Celtic musician Charlie Zahm. Adding a unique twist to the evening is mentalist and master of ceremonies Jobeth Bowers, providing magic during intermission.

Dixon emphasized that the need for toys is especially great this year, citing rising costs and reduced corporate donations. Admission is $30, with proceeds supporting Toys for Tots in Cecil County, and attendees are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy. Doors open at 7 p.m., with tickets available at the door or online through Eventbrite and the Toys for Tots Facebook page. Dixon noted that the combination of music, magic, and community spirit offers a meaningful way to help make local children’s Christmas brighter.
