November 2025: Your monthly update on events and programs at the Library

10/30/25 – Cecil TV – Naomi Copenhaver, Perryville Library Branch Manager

Checking in from one of our North East quiet room — quiet rooms like this are available at the Perryville and North East branches. They are the perfect quiet spots to focus, relax or get some work done!

Friends Foundation – I’d like to start by highlighting a group that plays a vital role in supporting the Cecil County Public Library – the CCPL Friends Foundation!  The Friends Foundation is like the sprinkles and whipped cream on the Library’s sundae — adding something extra special to everything we do. Their generosity supports programs and events such as Summer Reading, the Children’s Book Festival, My Special Book, SPARK, 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, and our Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast, along with many other special initiatives and building projects.  Each year, November and December mark the Friends Foundation’s Season of Giving. Consider sponsoring a book in the collection of your favorite branch – a gift for the person who has everything or a way to honor or remember someone special.  To learn more about book sponsorships or how to get involved with the Friends Foundation, visit www.ccplfriendsfoundation.org

Maryland STEM Festival – The Maryland STEM Festival is a month-long celebration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics held each fall. In 2025, the festival will feature hundreds of fun, hands-on events designed to spark curiosity and inspire learning. To learn more, visit www.marylandstemfestival.org. Throughout November, CCPL will offer Kids and Teen programs centered around the STEM Festival so I wanted to give some details on just a few of them…

Skies Over Cecil: A History of Airplane Accidents in the County
November 5 | Perryville Branch
Remembering Cecil County’s unique and sometimes tragic role in aviation history from early airways to major tragedies. While the Eastern Airlines crash in 1947 and Pan Am Flight 214 are most remembered, other incidents, like a military jet crash in Woodlawn and a bomber crash on the Bohemia River, also shaped its aviation legacy.

In conjunction with Native American Heritage month we have Algonkian Living History
November 19 | Elkton

An interactive program on the ways of life of the Algonkian Native Americans. Drew Shuptar-Rayvis will guide you in comparing and examining traditional items such as pelts and daily objects made of stone, bone, wood, and shell with those items acquired through trade.

Our Next Big Event

We have one big event coming up at the Elkton Branch!

On Saturday, November 8th from 10:00 – 2:00 we have Meet & Greet Authors

Meet and greet local authors across a variety of genres, purchase signed books, and shop for unique bookish items from local vendors to celebrate the joy of reading!
