On Set Revival: Courtney Burns and Ryan Lewis
On the November 24 episode of Cecil TV, host Rob Chirnside introduced viewers to rising musicians Courtney Burns and Ryan Lewis, a powerful new duo discovered at a local open mic. Courtney, who’s been writing poetry and music since childhood—recording her first album around age 11—is currently working on a major album due by the end of the year. She cites Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac as her biggest influences.
Ryan, who connected with Courtney after she saw a video online of him playing guitar while his dog howled along, brings an alternative rock influence, inspired by bands like Alice in Chains and Breaking Benjamin. Their creative process blends Courtney’s lyric-driven songwriting with Ryan’s melody-forward approach.
They performed two original songs, “Mystic Woman” and “Only Lonely”—the latter a duet written together—which will appear on Courtney’s upcoming album. Courtney already has two singles available on streaming platforms: “It Is What It Is” and “Wild Angels.”
Beyond the studio, the pair are actively performing live, including appearances at Falling Branch Brewery, the Hopkins Farm Brewery open mic, and upcoming dates at the VFW and Grand Run Taproom in Port Deposit.
Their musical style blends folk-rock, country, and alternative, and despite only working together for a couple of months, Chirnside described them as remarkably polished and compelling.
