Our Weekly Show: Special Guests - Courtney Burns and Ryan Lewis

Musicians Courtney Burns and Ryan Lewis returned to the Cecil TV studio on March 9 to talk with host Rob Chirnside about their growing partnership, new music, and upcoming performances.

The duo, who have been performing together for about six months, have quickly built a following across Cecil County through open mics and local shows. Burns said she has been writing songs for roughly a year and a half and now has around 30 original compositions, giving the pair enough material to mix originals with cover songs during their multi-hour live performances.

One of those original songs, “Burn Down Love,” grew out of personal experiences and the emotional process of working through a difficult divorce. Burns described songwriting and performing as a therapeutic outlet that allows her to channel past struggles into music.

The musical partnership itself began in a modern way: a Facebook friend request. Lewis, a guitarist, reached out after seeing Burns’ musical posts online. Burns was looking for someone who could focus on guitar while she concentrated on vocals. The collaboration quickly developed into both a musical and personal connection.

The pair told viewers they have several performances planned, including a show at Earth, Wood and Fire on March 13 and another at the North East VFW on April 16, part of a growing list of bookings for the year.

During the program, Burns and Lewis also performed original songs including “You and a Marlboro Light” and “The Color of You,” a duet the two wrote together, highlighting the creative chemistry that has fueled their rapid rise on the local music scene.
