Elkton, MD: Today, County Executive Danielle Hornberger issued an executive order banning vaccine passports in Cecil County Government buildings in order to protect individuals’ private medical information.

“While I encourage Cecil residents to get the COVID-19 vaccine, I understand that some residents will opt out due to a religious objection, a health concern and/or personal reasons.” stated Executive Hornberger. “These residents have every right to live their life freely, and all Cecil residents have the right to keep their medical information private.”

The order prohibits requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination status in exchange for services or entry to a Cecil County Government building, which also covers all Cecil County Government employees.

The Executive Order also strongly encourages all businesses in Cecil County to do the same and forbid the usage of a “vaccine passport”.

“Today’s executive order makes it clear that vaccine passports have no place in Cecil County. The decision whether or not to vaccinate should be a personal decision and a decision that is respected by the government”, added Hornberger.

Currently, COVID-19 vaccines are under an emergency use authorization by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
