Opioid Intervention Team Announces Public Forum

Elkton, MD: Cecil County Executive Danielle Hornberger and the Opioid Intervention Team (OIT) invite the public to give comment on the team’s proposed goals and strategic priorities via an in-person public forum on July 28, 2021 at 6 PM in the Elk Room of the County Administration Building.

The forum will consist of an introduction and update by the County Executive, a brief presentation on the OIT and its proposed goals by Health Officer Lauren Levy, and then comments from Cecil County residents. A preliminary list of the team’s goals can be found below. These goals were developed by the OIT based on information gleaned from the Opioid Summit, the Transition Committee report, the Pandit Group report, and from stakeholder input.

Proposed Goals:

Reduce the number of overdose deaths in Cecil County
Increase the number of people receiving evidence-based treatment and recovery services
Foster a culture of health including mental wellness and substance use prevention
Develop a comprehensive data management and program evaluation system to inform services and track outcomes
Improve access to treatment programs, recovery services, and support for families and professionals
Reduce stigma associated with mental health conditions and substance use
Improve and enhance collaborative efforts between community partners and systems
Those who wish to give public comment must register at the door, and all public comment will be limited to in-person attendees. Please note that the time limit for public comment will be based on the number of overall registrants. All Cecil County residents are welcome to attend.

The public may observe this forum by connecting in real time via Zoom in the link below or via phone. A recording of this forum will be made available on the County’s website following its conclusion.
